This week we took a trip to St. Augustine, FL, in search of something new.
We came to find the Fountain of Youth, as many often do.
We wandered around the intracoastal city, marveling at its past,
Until we the spotted notorious, ancient landmarks at last!
We discovered Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest fort around.
But this wasn't the only piece of history we found.
An 18th-century schoolhouse, hand-crafted out of wood.
A lighthouse with a breathtaking view from the top where we stood.
Then to St. Augustine Beach, to sink our toesies in the sand,
Pretty cool place! Been there a few times. Great pictures Leslie:) Throw me some of that fountain of youth too!

I LOVE ST. AUGUSTINE!!!! I got married there in June 1999 and stayed at the Alexander Homestead Bed & Breakfast for my honeymoon!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's when I fell in love with Victorian, Romantic, lace, crystal, etc. decorating!!!!! I just love the old city of St Augustine.... it is my dream place.
Nice to meet you,

Gorgeous! Lisa~
ReplyDeleteOh, how fun!
ReplyDeleteMy family went To St. Augustine when I was in 6th grade. Of course, the most memorable things from that trip were: Ripley's Believe it or Not, The horse-drawn carriages, and swimming in a motel pool in the sun - singing a (then) current hit commercial theme fro the Bahamas. ROFL!
The things you remember from childhood :)
(I tried to find that crazy video on You Tube to share the commercial earworm with everyone...but sadly I can't seem to find it. It was a pretty woman standing in a swimming pool moving her right hand to the right, then left to the left, like the "Showcase Girls" did on The Price is Right. She was signing, "Oooh, eee, yeah, Bahamas! Lookie here, Lookie there!" as I recall - LOL!)
Thanks for sharing your very fun trip with us!
Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos & your creative "poetic" talents. Have a wonderful time with your family.
