Sunday Serenity :: The Spring Mantel

Beautiful Savior, King of creation
Son of God and Son of Man!

Truly I'd love Thee, truly I'd serve Thee,
Light of my soul, my joy, my crown.

Fair are the meadows,
Fair are the woodlands,

Robed in the flowers of blooming Spring;

Jesus is fairer,
Jesus is purer,

He makes our sorrowing spirit sing.

I found myself singing this song while taking pictures of the narcissus.
I remember singing this hymn as a girl at Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Does anyone else remember this hymn?

  2. The mantel is beautiful! The hymn sounds familiar but a tune is just not coming to me. The lyrics are lovely though. Hope you have a blessed Sunday! <3 Paula

  3. Beautiful pictures, Leslie. Isn't it amazing how the hymns take a hold of our hearts? When we hear them it's like going back home. Although I remember many growing up, this one doesn't come to mind. I played it and it's very peaceful.

    Enjoy your Sunday.

  11. Well, Leslie my friend, you really nailed me today. You used one of my all time favorite flowers *AND BEAUTIFULLY I might add* and also one of my all time favorite hymns.

Love this. It was a simple pleasure to share. Really.

  12. Oh my, yes! Could sing this by heart. Though I love the modern praise and worship music of today, when by myself I often revert to the beautiful "older" songs. Thanks for that and the beautiful photos.

  15. The mantle is wonderful. I love the different sized vases with the same contents. Love it.

It's funny...I wasn't raised in church and never heard hymns until I was an adult. So I don't have that same affection for them that most of my friends (and twins) have. It's so sweet. I hope my kids love them they way you do. Lisa~
