Return to Sender, Address Unknown :: noreply@blogger

Hi y'all!
We are getting another snow here in South Carolina as I type this,
the last snow "storm" was on Christmas Day,
I am secretly (well, it's not a secret now that I just told you)
delighted to be trapped indoors so I am finally forced to take down,
sort through to donate,
and pack up the Christmas decor!

Lindsey from Sweet Simplicity graciously allowed me to republish her post.
I was going to write one similar to this, but Lindsey already did
and it's perfect and simple.
The instructions are for users of blogger/blogspot/google/gmail.

Hopefully, it will be helpful to someone!

I LOVE receiving comments!
It makes my day to open my gmail account
and see an e-mail notification of a new comment.
I also love to reply to your comments from my e-mail account.

But, sometimes when I hit reply instead of seeing your e-mail address
 I see noreply-comment{at}blogger{dot}com and I can't reply.
When I reply to others, I can see their e-mail address
and the response automatically goes to their e-mail.

This is extremely helpful when you ask me questions in a comment.
It is so much easier to reply this way than to have to go to your blog
and leave a comment or search for your e-mail address.

If you would like people to be able to email you back after you leave a comment,
here's how you change those settings.

1. Sign In to your Blogger Account.
2. Click on the Dashboard link in the upper right hand corner of your screen.
3. Click on Edit Profile, which is on the left hand side of the screen next to your picture.

4. This will take you to the Edit User Profile screen.
5. Look in the Privacy section.
6. Check the box that says, "Show my email address".

7. In the Identity section, enter in an email address.
8. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on Save Profile.

When you add your e-mail address in the above spot,
it does not change the e-mail address that you use to log-in.

I'm assuming that most of you have a personal e-mail address
and generic blog e-mail address.
I entered my generic blog e-mail address in that spot.
My personal e-mail address is still where I receive notifications of new comments
and it is what I use to log in to blogger.

Pretty easy!

Thank you, Lindsey!!

  2. This is some of the best blogging advice a new blogger can read. I love to return comments as well, and if someone has a quick question, it is sooo much easier to be able to reply via email as opposed to searching their profile for a blog...or not replying at all.

  3. Thanks for the tip!
You have so inspired me: I attended my first session of FPU last night, so excited for the rest of the sessions. And everyone who was there was so nice, I think I chatted with people for 1/2 hour afterwards.

I have gathered things around my home for eBay sales and went to Goodwill and found some great clothes to sell.

I am sure I'm one of those who have posted a question without having my email on my profile, and I posted so quickly this AM, I haven't changed it yet... I had posted a question about income taxes and eBay? Can you explain that?

    Thanks!

  4. Leslie,

We had snow on Fri and Sat (again) in NJ. I too am house bound -- sick with a relapse of the flu. If I am up to it later I will be taking down and storing my Christmas decor as well.
Good advice regarding email addresses and comments. Although, not everyone uses blogger.

    Your Friend,
    Deborah

  5. I am sooooo glad you put this post up because I thought I had mine set to make it easy for people to reply to my comments via email and when I went to double check I DIDN'T! Thank you for that reminder and for making life easier for me and those trying to contact me! :-)

  8. Hello. Thanks for the tip.
Hope you stay warm. The snow has pretty much gone from here for the moment, only a dusting remains, but it is really cold and icy here so not so good underfoot. I am thankful for fireplaces :-)
Thanks for your comment on my blogpost :-) You're so sweet!
I must try and update my blog more often!

  9. Thanks for the tip; I'll have to do that. I haven't learned very much other than how to post. I can't even figure out how to put a button on my post! I'm sure your grandma was one blessed lady to live with you. My mother lived with us for 5 years before she went to be with the Lord. It was hard but worth every minute. Have a great time in the snow with the family.

  11. I saw a post like this about a year ago, I think Nester posted it, and I *swear* I enabled that. Well, I was wrong. I just double-checked (pardon the pun) and it was NOT enabled.

I'm so glad you posted this.
