Hi y'all!
I pray you are having a wonderful day of joy and peace and love!
I have been gathering some things together here at my home
so I can have an Autumn Giveaway!
It's a collection of things to make your home cozy for Autumn
and encourage you in your hospitality.
I am not done putting it all together, I should be by Monday.
So, stop back in, m'kay?!
(Last year's foyer decor.)
I'm a Klutz. (Yes, with a Capital "K").
Wednesday, our washing machine overflowed, and I moved everything out of the room,
including the laundry sorter, so I could dry the floor.
I propped up the rolling laundry sorter against the banister in the hallway,
right outside Miss S's (college girl) room,
dried up the floor and got on with my duties.
Later that night, I decided I needed a pillow out of Miss S's room.
I traipsed through the hallway, in the dark, to her room,
and found something beneath my feet.
This something was the sorter that had slid down the wall,
and I was now tripping over it.
As I tripped, I fell. As I fell, I felt my right foot twist one way, & then another.
Then, gravity took over & I fell on my left hip & shoulder.
I cried, probably said a bad word, called to Mark, he came around the corner,
looked down the stairwell, thinking I had fallen down the stairs, I had made so much racket!
Poor Miss A came out of her room to see what had happened to her mommy.
She started crying. (Tender, sweet-hearted girl).
They brought me ice right away and got me into bed,
but not before they brought me that silly pillow I wanted in the first place.
I spent 36 hours in bed (except for trips to the loo).
Healing. Reading. Waiting.
Healing. Reading. Waiting.
Miss A was a most excellent nurse.
A girlfriend from church brought me some crutches, dinner,
an ice pack and an Ace bandage.
I was well-taken care of and felt very loved.
I wrapped my foot, scooted down two flights of stairs on my fanny this morning
because I think I am getting bed sores (just kidding),
and here's what I am doing today.
(I don't have a laptop, so, I have to come to the office in the basement to blog.)
It's right off the Cafe' de Sous Sol.
It's right off the Cafe' de Sous Sol.
Oh, and since I had been staring mainly at my feet all day, yesterday,
I polished my toenails, a fun Fall orange!
This is also where Miss A sits to do her Online Charter Homeschooling.
I only took shots from my chair, sorry!
Miss A's Schoolbooks.
The paddles below, are from a Nickel Auction Brunch I had last Fall.
I am saving them so we can have another Auction!
Marmee is my girl's nickname for me.
Can you guess what book it's from??
My favorite word.
I covet your prayers for my ankle.
Now that I have to mainly sit, for a week+ I can catch up on saying hi to all y'all!!
Please come back Monday for the WELCOME AUTUMN GIVE-AWAY!
P.S. Don't walk in dark hallways at night without a light.
God made my life complete
when I placed all the pieces before him.
When I cleaned up my act,
he gave me a fresh start.
Indeed, I've kept alert to God's ways;
I haven't taken God for granted.
Every day I review the ways he works,
I try not to miss a trick.
I feel put back together,
and I'm watching my step.
God rewrote the text of my life
when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes.
when I placed all the pieces before him.
When I cleaned up my act,
he gave me a fresh start.
Indeed, I've kept alert to God's ways;
I haven't taken God for granted.
Every day I review the ways he works,
I try not to miss a trick.
I feel put back together,
and I'm watching my step.
God rewrote the text of my life
when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes.
Suddenly, God, your light floods my path,
God drives out the darkness.
God drives out the darkness.
2 Samuel 22:21-25,29
(The Message)
First, I love your toenail polish. Second, I hope you are feeling better. Like how the polish came before your well wishes? That didn't sound so nice huh? My son recently twisted his ankle only he is in Atlanta and I couldn't take care of him. He was shooting a wedding (with a camera)and jumped over a bush to get a shot. Landed badly. But he said he got the shot :) I hope you mend quickly!
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty fall vignettes, and your computer area is lovely. Such pretty accessories. Love the nail polish, in my favorite shade. Hope your foot is better soon. I will keep you in prayer for a fast and painless healing. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself and get lots of rest. I love the color of your toenail polish :-)
ReplyDeleteOh man- can I relate to that one!! Sometimes I am walking and my ankle will just give out- seriously! When I was a teenager, my stepdad cracked up when it gave out and I 'rolled' to the car! I almost fell into a display of soda at the grocery store one time too but The worst was probably when I was walking on the sidewalk in Carmel with the cutie patootie I liked- we were chatting it up and then bam- onto my behind b/c that ankle gave out! He didn't even notice right away- hmmm bad sign huh?- he kept walking and talking.... so embarrassed! Twisted ankles are no fun- hope it's better soon! :)
ReplyDeleteBless your sweet little heart. . . and your poor ankle! I pray that God will heal you completely--no leftover problems whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteTwo new reasons to love you? That "grace" is your favorite words and that your girls call you "Marmee"--are you kidding?? I estimate that I've read Little Women at least 20 times. It never gets old, so I re-read it, and I'm strengthened every time. My middle name is "Jo," by the way. :)
Only a chick (ME) who did a 180° flip in the picnic parking lot 4 weeks ago could understand, sugar!! I'm doing physical therapy for 8 weeks 3x a week and twice a day at home for being so careless. *Sigh*.....but it is getting me out of some household duties.

Is that Marmee from Little Women? I haven't read it in years, but I think I remember that. Oh Lesley, you are sure it's not broken? I'm sorry you are laid up and hurting {I'll bet it was scary while it was happening, too}. New magazines come out about now, too, don't they? I'd put in an order for a few of those. The only problem with that is {if you're like me} you sometimes see something in a magazine and want to try it or look to see if you have that thing that looks so similar. The better patient you are the quicker you can get back to normal! : )
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, you poor thing, I'm so thankful you didn't tumble down the stairway.
ReplyDeleteI do hope and pray you heal quickly!
I just love a)your office and b)your color choice for your toe-nails.
Looking forward to your give-away Monday!
Have a careful, restful weekend!
You only get to live so long without landing on your behind in the dark. I've even done it by tripping over stuff I put somewhere that didn't move but I simply forgot they were there. You are wise to use the time for quieting your soul, reading and feeding your spirit and catching up on the things that take no walking around. My prayers are with you that you will know a Peace even in your predicament as well as a fast healing.
ReplyDeleteKnow that I care,
Terri
Praying for you! I learned so much from Marmee in Little Women! I love that book. It's so sweet that it's their nickname for you. BTW, love the orange nail polish. Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteYou still managed to have a pretty foot in spite of the injury!!~ So sorry to hear that. Loving your Fall vignettes though, so pretty. Heal fast OK!!~ Thoughts and prayers your way. Debbie
ReplyDeleteOhhhh Leslie, I'm SO SORRY to hear about your accident. Keep resting and recuperating. God bless you, Honey. Susan
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I hope you are feeling better soon. You don't think you broke it, do you?
ReplyDeleteWould love to hear more about the nickel action, sounds like fun!!
Your office space looks beautiful and relaxing :)
Can't wait to see you in Oct (woo hoo..it is oct)!!
Wendy
Oh my... so sorry you had a bad fall. I hope your ankle is all better soon, and that it isn't fractured. I'm loving the toenail polish!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww....
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your ankle and can tell how swollen it is even under the bandages. The orange toes made me grin, though. (But a sympathetic grin. You know.. the kind with the scrunched up shoulders and all)
Love your blog space, Marmee.
I hope you are skipping about in no time.
Poor girl that sounds like a nasty fall. I must say you are being very positive (love the orange polish). Enjoyed the photos of you space. Take care and get well soon. You are in my prayers. Oh and I can fall in broad daylight so don't feel so bad.
ReplyDeleteHi Klutzy!!!!
ReplyDeleteFall.
Fall.
You took it very seriously this year! Let me guess, you're going to use "ace bandage beige" and pumpkin orange for your decor colors!!!
Hope your ankle feels better and you get to read more books!!!
Your daughter has the nicest and neatest desk. Wow.
Your toe nails look adorable, btw!!!!
Marmee - LITTLE WOMEN, Louisa May Alcott, one of my teachers in life!!!
Have missed ya!!!!

Take care of yourself and get lots of rest! Too cute that you painted your toenails to match the season.
ReplyDeleteMy dad always said I was an accident walking around waiting to happen. I trip over things all the time...in broad daylight! You do need to have a x ray. My husband broke his ankle several years ago and didn't go to a doctor for over a week thinking it was sprained. He did further damage and it took months to heal. Take care of yourself..and be careful!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sherry
Oh I knew I liked you! You said your girls call you Marmee! I'm assuming you are talking about the Marmee from one of my all time favorite books?? :-) I'm so sorry about your injury and totally relate! I have fallen down our stairs more times than I can count and find bruises but don't remember how I got them! I hope/pray you make a quick recovery and just wanted to say again how glad I am that I discovered you and your blog!
ReplyDeleteVanessa
So sorry to hear about the ankle. Hope you're back to normal soon. (Except maybe not so Klutzy?) At least you're getting some rest and some good reading time. BTW love those orange toenails.
ReplyDeleteOh my! Sorry about your little accident. Happens to the best of us. Love your blogging spot. Every little detail is adorable! And "The Message" is great. Thank God for rewriting my life!
ReplyDeleteOh, my! What an ordeal. I will definitely pray for you! Enjoy this time to do a few "quite" things that don't involve all the coming and going our lives are filled with!
ReplyDeleteDon't feel too bad, this SO sounds like something I'd do!
So sorry to hear about your accident! Said a prayer for your healing. I don't know about you but I wonder if this sometimes happens as it is the only way we will slow down! I broke both elbows one time and yup, it slowed me down!!
ReplyDeletebee blessed
and heal fast!
mary
I like your blog and home... and pumpkiny toenails!

OUCH! I'm so sorry about your ankle! That does not sound like fun! I hope it starts feeling better soon. You HAVE to be at Relevant!
ReplyDeleteLove ya girl!
As I said last night, I missed this thinking you were in my blogroll all this time. I keep one of all my favorite neighbors on my page so that I don't have to go to the dashboard back and forth. Of course I never saw you updating because for some reason you weren't on there although I thought you were. Okay, enough on that.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that in the midst of it all you weren't more seriously hurt AND looks like your sense of humor is intact. That's a good thing.
I didn't know you home schooled too. Love this room. How pleasant it must be for your daughter to do her work in there.
Anywho, stay safe and blessings your way.
